Saudi woman aged 82, grandson recover from COVID-19
Coronavirus infections took place during Eid family visits
Cairo: A Saudi woman aged 82 and her two-year grandson have recovered from COVID-19 in the port city of Yanbu in the west of the kingdom.
The woman had contracted the infection during visits to the family on the fifth day of Eid Al Fitr in late May when anti-virus measures were eased, Mazen Al Hamadi, one of her grandchildren, told Rotana Khalijia TV. Four other grandchildren, including the two-year-old boy also caught the infection, according to Mazen. The boy, named Hassan, is believed to be the youngest person to have caught the infection.
Upon falling ill, the aged woman insisted on going into quarantine to protect her children and grandchildren, according to Mazen.
“All of them have recovered,” he added.
The Health Services of the Royal Commission for Yanbu this week honoured the woman and her grandboy for their recovery from COVID-19.
Saudi Arabia so far has reported a total of 145,991 virus cases including 1,139 related fatalities.
Authorities have repeatedly urged the people to abide by precautions including wearing face masks in public and observing social distancing.
