Cairo: Saudi tribes have ended a 43-year dispute and agreed on reconciliation, according to officials.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia’s south-western region of Asir have said that the mediation efforts had been led by a recently created reconciliation community committee.

“The Community Peace Establishment Committee has succeeded in reaching reconciliation and affinity among tribes of Bani Jabra,” the Asir authorities said in an online statement. They did not disclose the cause of the long-standing dispute.

A video posted online by the local authorities showed several tribal chiefs sitting in a regional club in the presence of Asir governor Turki Bin Talal. They are also seen delivering addresses hailing reconciliation.
