Saudi Arabia: Man executed for forming terrorist cell
Execution approved by royal decree, he was convicted of inciting sectarianism
Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior on Tuesday executed a man for forming a terrorist cell to intentionally kill security men and trigger sectarianism and chaos in Dammam in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province, local media reported.
Earlier, the Kingdom’s Court of Cassation had upheld a death penalty verdict issued by the Criminal Court that found Mustafa Hashem Al Darwish guilty of forming an armed terrorist group to deliberately target security personnel, stir riot, incite sectarianism and make bombs.
The execution was approved by a royal decree.
According to a statement by the ministry, Al Darwish opened fire at security patrols. He also participated in riots and manufactured Molotov cocktails with intent to use against security personnel in Dammam.
The ministry warned against any attempt to destabilise the Kingdom’s security and stability, emphasising that it will not show leniency towards anyone who thinks of undermining stability in the country.
