Saudi Arabia launches national AI strategy
Aims to attract $20bn in investment, train 20,000 AI experts
Dubai: Saudi Arabia launched a national strategy for data and artificial intelligence that aims to train 20,000 data and AI experts, set up 300 AI startups and attract $20bn of investments by 2030.
The AI strategy was launched at the opening of the Global AI Summit held in Riyadh on Wednesday. On behalf of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Abdullah Bin Sharaf Al Ghamdi, head of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, said the strategy aims to make Saudi Arabia the place where the best of data and artificial intelligence becomes a reality.
In his speech, Al Ghamdi said “Saudi Arabia wants to set the best example globally in using AI for the development of a nation,” urging creative talents and dreamers from all over the world to join the Kingdom’s efforts in shaping the future of the world. “Saudi Arabia aims to become one of the top 15 nations by 2030 in artificial intelligence by establishing itself as a global hub for data and AI.
“The strategy sets the foundation and direction upon which we will unlock the potential of data and AI to fulfil our national transformation priorities and establish Saudi Arabia as a global hub for data and AI,” Al Ghamdi said.
The move emphasises the Kingdom’s efforts to become a major hub attracting the best global talented innovators, and a haven for brilliant minds and creative talents in the field of data and IA, he added.
