Saudi Arabia: High turnout for COVID-19 jabs
More vaccination facilities operating in Mecca, Jeddah
Cairo: Saudi health authorities have said that there is a high turnout for receiving the vaccine against COVID-19 across the kingdom amid expansion of inoculation facilities.
The Health Ministry added that the vaccination of citizens and foreign residents run smoothly amid “flawless regulatory measures”. Would-be recipients, who have already registered via the smart app Sehaty, are received at vaccination centres according to an organisation mechanism to head off crowding, the ministry said without providing specific figures.
The ministry advised citizens and expatriates to swiftly register to receive the vaccine for free.
Saudi Arabia has recently set up more vaccination centres in different parts of the country. On Friday, the holy city of Mecca got its second inoculation centre at the King Abdullah Medical City.
Vaccination campaign
Meanwhile, vaccination facilities have increased in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, reaching five hospitals and seven health centres, the Saudi news agency SPA reported.
In December, Saudi Arabia began its largest vaccination campaign against COVID-19 after receiving batches of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The kingdom has already set up four inoculation facilities in Riyadh, Jeddah, the Eastern Province and the Medina.
Saudi authorities have said the vaccine is provided for free for citizens and foreign residents.
