Saudi Arabia: Gang busted with $500,000 in counterfeit bills

Four-member gang includes 2 Saudis, 1 Egyptian, 1 Sudanese



Two Saudis, an Egyptian and a Sudanese were arrested at their residence in Riyadh in possession of counterfeit notes worth $500,000 that they were trying to circulate in the Saudi market.

Dubai: Riyadh police have arrested a gang of four men for circulating counterfeit US currency, local media reported.

According to Major Khalid Al Kreidis, spokesman for the Riyadh police, two Saudis, an Egyptian and a Sudanese were arrested at their residence in Riyadh in possession of counterfeit notes worth $500,000 that they were trying to circulate in the Saudi market.

“We received information about a gang that promoting fake US dollars. A police squad raided their residence in east of Riyadh and arrested them red handed, with fake notes in their possession,” Major Al Kreidis said.

The Riyadh Police urged the public to cooperate with relevant authorities by reporting any suspicious activity or crimes that may affect the country’s financial safety.
