Saudi Arabia: Crown Prince donates SR100m for philanthropic works
Donation also covers settles the debts of 150 prisoners
Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman donated 100 million riyals to support charity works in the Kingdom and settle the debts of 150 prisoners.
Out of the 100 million riyals, 87 million is earmarked for 29 charitable societies across the Kingdom and the amount is to be spent within days, according to the Crown Prince’s instruction.
The remaining 13 million is meant for the payment of debts of more than 150 prisoners in financial cases so that they are released and returned to their families today.
The donation comes under the "SNAD Mohammed bin Salman" programme to enable charitable societies to provide services to eight categories in the society.
They include women’s charitable societies, charities for people with disabilities, charities for cancer care, charities for the care of widows and divorced women, charities for the care of orphans, Down syndrome charities, charities for health services, and charities for the care of the elderly.
Each eligible category will receive financial support for their developmental programmes dedicated to training, rehabilitation, support and sustainability.
The donation for the release of prisoners covers paying the debts of more than 150 prisoners, who are unable to settle their debts, provided that the amount owed by prisoners was not because of illegal matters and that they were never involved in any criminal act.
