Dubai: A Saudi court granted an expatriate mother full custody of her 10-year-old daughter after rejecting a custody claim by her Saudi ex-husband.

The complainant filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife, requesting the court to grant him custody of his daughter, claiming the mother was unfit to take care of his daughter. The father told the court that the mother lives in an unsafe apartment and has always threatened him that she would move to live outside the Kingdom.

In her defence, the mother said she has been taking care of her daughter since her birth, denying the father’s claims. The mother also told the court that her former husband has visited his daughter once in three years.

The mother rebuffed the father’s claim about her intent to leave Saudi Arabia, where she was born and brought up.

The court turned down the father’s request and upheld its ruling on granting custody for the mother.
