Cairo: Saudi Arabia has named its second female ambassador as the country is making big strides to enhance women’s empowerment.

Amal Yahya Al Moalmi Wednesday took the oath of office as the Saudi ambassador to Norway. She was among a number of recently appointed Saudi ambassadors who were sworn in by King Salman in an online ceremony.

Having a career spanning about 20 years, Amal previously served as an assistant secretary-general of the King Abdulaziz Centre for National Dialogue and the director-general of organisations and international cooperation at the state Saudi Human Rights Commission.

She holds a bachelor of arts in the English language from the Princess Noura Bint Abdul Rahman University in Riyadh and a postgraduate a degree in mass communication and journalism from the University of Denver in the US.

In February 2019, Princess Reema Bint Bandar became the first female Saudi ambassador to the US.
