Saudi Arabia: Civil aviation sector to be localised

Authority to create 10,000 jobs across 28 professions for Saudis

Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation on Tuesday launched an initiative to Saudize 28 professions in the air transport sector. The authority will create 10,000 jobs for Saudis in the next three years, local media reported.

The professions include pilot, flight attendant, air traffic controller, supervisor, flight yard coordinator, ground handling services, handling of cargo, luggage and passengers, flight catering and other professions related to the air transport sector.

The Saudization strategy is in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, part of strengthening the civil aviation sector as one of.

The authority has directed the national airlines, maintenance and operation contractors and service providers working at the Kingdom’s all airports to start implementing the initiative.

“Working teams have been assigned to monitor and follow up the implementation of the initiative on a monthly basis as well as to prepare reports and submit them to the authorities,” the authority said in a statement.

The authority said that the initiative is a result of the cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, with the aim of Saudizing several jobs.
