COVID-19: Saudi theatre returns proving show must go on
Cairo: Stage fans in Saudi Arabia have gathered in limited numbers to watch the first play to be performed in the kingdom since cultural events were suspended more than six months ago due to the coronavirus pandemic, a media report said.
The single-actor show, a monodrama titled “An English File”, was staged Thursday night at an arts hall in the city of Taif in western Saudi Arabia, according to online newspaper Sabq.

The drama, written by Fahd Reda Al Harthi, was directed by Matar Al Sawat who also played the lead role. The show revolves around a man’s daily struggles.
A limited number of audience were allowed to attend in compliance with precautions against the spread of the coronavirus.
In recent weeks, Saudi authorities have relaxed several virus-related restrictions, but continue to ban large gatherings.
