Cairo: The Saudi government has announced it will offer SR500,000 to the families of every health worker who died of the novel coronavirus, the official news agency SPA reported.

The assistance will be offered to families of both Saudi and expatriate victims in the public and private sectors, including civilians and the military personnel, it added.

The decision will take effect as of March when the COVID-19 infection case among health workers in the kingdom were recorded, according to the report.

Saudi Arabia so far has reported a total of 345,631 coronavirus cases and 5,329 related fatalities.
