Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia has administered more than 15 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to citizens and residents through nearly 600 inoculation centres across the country, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

The Kingdom reported 1,161 new infections over the last 24 hours, bringing the tally to 458,707, of which 9,376 cases were active but stable and 1,579 critical and receiving medical care at hospitals, the ministry said.

The ministry said the total number of recoveries was 441,860, while the number of fatalities reached 7,471.

The ministry called on everyone to speed up registration to take the vaccine, and not to listen to rumours that warn against vaccines, stressing that they are safe, effective, limit the spread of the virus, and help the return to normal life.

In its quest to return to to normal life, the Saudi Ministry of Health vaccinated 98 per cent of health practitioners working in vaccine centres, in addition to 93 per cent of those working in clinics.
