COVID-19 in GCC: Kuwait reports 580 new coronavirus cases

Qatar’s total infections rise to 149,978, Oman’s to 133,574

Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday recorded 216 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 367,023.

The ministry reported four more virus-related deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 6,363.

A further 205 new recoveries were registered, raising the total number of people recovered from the deadly virus to 358,545, with the recovery rate climbing to 97.69 per cent.

With the slight increase in the new COVID-19 cases over the past few days, the active cases have also mounted to 2,115, out of which 348 are critical cases under intensive care.

Kuwait

The daily tally of new coronavirus cases has recently been increasing slightly, with 580 reported on Wednesday. In its daily report, the Ministry of Health said the total number of infections has now gone up to 162,862.

No new fatalities have been reported in the last 24 hours, keeping death toll at 957. The overall recoveries have gone up to 155,739 after an additional 436 patients had fully recovered.

Due to the slight increase in daily reported cases, the active cases have risen to 6,166, including 44 that are admitted to intensive care units.

Bahrain

The Ministry of Health confirmed the detection of 459 new COVID-19 cases in Bahrain, bringing the total confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 100,689.

The virus claimed one more life, taking fatality tally to 370, the ministry said in its latest update.

There have been 245 fresh recoveries, pushing total recoveries to 97,006. The active cases have now touched 3,313; including 3,292 that are stable and 21 are critical cases under intensive care.

Qatar

The Ministry of Public Health today confirmed the detection of 383 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total infections in Qatar to 149,978.

No new fatalities were reported over the past 24 hours, leaving the death toll at 248.

According to the ministry’s latest update, a further 127 patients have fully recovered, pushing the total number of people recovered from the virus across the country to 145,251.

With the increase in the daily cases, the active cases have now touched 4,434, including 391 stable cases under treatment, while 40 are critical cases under intensive care.

Oman

A further 167 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and one death was reported in the Sultanate in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said in its latest update.

This brings the total infections in the Sultanate to 133,574 and fatality tally to 1,525. The total number of recoveries has climbed to126,486 after 77 fresh recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

The ministry urged everyone to adhere to precautionary measures and social distancing protocols issued by the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling COVID-19.
