Oman to lift lockdown on Dhofar from October 1

Dubai: Oman’s Supreme Committee for Tackling COVID-19 will lift the shutdown on Dhofar entirely from Thursday, October 1, Oman's national news agency said on Tuesday.

The committee also announced that expatriate residents with valid residency visas can return to Oman as of October 1, provided that they conduct a PCR on arrival and abide by two-week quarantine.

It stressed that PCR test and quarantine are mandatory for expatriates who wish to return to the Sultanate.

The committee also announced the extension of economic stimulus package provided by the government to boost the private sector until the end of this year. Details will shortly be revealed by competent authorities.

Omani authorities enforced the lockdown on the Dhofar Governorate in April to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The move is part of a slew of decisions to ease restrictions that have been in place to stem the coronavirus outbreak.

The committee calls on all individuals and establishments to adhere to preventive and precautionary measures for the safety of all community members.
