Cairo: Oman Saturday recorded 21 further cases of the novel coronavirus, raising the overall tally in the Sultanate to 152.

The latest cases were all Omani nationals, the Health Ministry said in an update. Eight cases were found in people who were in touch with other patients while eight others were linked to travel, the ministry added. The five others are being investigated.

Oman has put in place a series of precautions aimed at preventing the spread of the highly infectious ailment. They include suspending international flights as of Sunday until further notice

Omani authorities have also stopped issuing tourist visas and all sporting events as well as banning the entry of tourist vessels to the Sultanate’s ports.

The country has banned public gatherings and stopped printing all publications for the same reason.
