Oman: German embassy issues circular on new entry requirements
Negative PCR test taken 48 hours prior to travel is now mandatory
Muscat: The German embassy in Oman has issued a circular that outlines the new regulation to enter Germany in the wake of the COVID-19 infections surge seen in some parts of Europe and elsewhere in the world.
Per the circular a negative PCR test taken 48 hours prior to the travel is now mandatory for every traveller irrespective of their nationality.
There are many students from Oman who have opted for higher studies in German universities and it is a highly popular study destination for residents and citizens alike.
The national carrier of Oman, Oman Air flies to two destinations in Germany, viz, Frankfurt and Munich.
Practical classes
Shreya Gopinath, a student of Marketing Management in Berlin School of Business and Innovation says that she has been in Oman since December. “I came for Christmas break and has been here since, as there have been numerous ambiguities with travel, quarantine and online/offline classes. I have made arrangements finally to fly as this is my final year and I do not want miss on crucial assignments and practical classes.”
German embassy in Muscat had also carried announcement when accommodation offers for tourists in Germany was stopped, except for one overnight stay, from November last year till April this year. Subsequently even the tourist visas are issued only for exceptional cases.
