Cairo: Omanis and foreign residents in the country can have their expired driving licences renewed electronically starting from next Sunday, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said.

The holders of the expired driving licence cards are requested to apply for renewal via the police’s website and the police app on smartphones beginning July 12, the ROP added in a Twitter statement.

Applicants are also required to activate the electronic certification service (PKI) and store the result of an electronic eye examination, the ROP said.

Renewed cards can be received from the nearest police station in different governorates of Oman.

In April, the ROP temporarily halted its services due to an outbreak of COVID-19.
