Cairo: Oman has placed a total of 2,367 people under quarantine as part of the sultanate’s efforts to prevent an outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Omani Health Minister Ahmad Al Saeedi has said.

Of this figure, there are 49 in institutional quarantine and the rest are under domestic quarantine, the minister explained.

“Contingency response plans have been worked out after [infected people] coming from outside the country have been recorded,” the official said.

On Tuesday, the Omani Health Ministry reported six more cases of the coronavirus linked to travel to Iran, raising the total number of the infections to 12.

Two among the 12 have fully recovered while the others are in stable condition, according to the ministry.
