Cairo: An earthquake, measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale, had hit the northern part of Kuwait Friday night, the Kuwaiti National Seismic Network reported.
The quake occurred at 9.19 pm Kuwaiti time and was three kilometres deep, supervisor of the network Abdullah Al Anazi said, according to Kuwait newspaper Al Rai. Residents in the northern area of Abdali near the Iraqi border felt the quake.
It was followed by aftershocks measuring between 1.2 to 2.2 on the Richter scale, he added.
There were no reports of casualties or damage resulting from the tremors.
