Kuwait's COVID-19 tally rises to 3,740 with 300 fresh cases

Cairo: Kuwait Wednesday announced one more fatality from the COVID-19, bringing to 24 the total such deaths in the country, the Kuwaiti news agency KUNA reported. The latest fatality was a 57-year-old Filipino resident who was admitted to intensive care six days ago, the Health Ministry said in a media briefing.

The ministry also reported 300 new coronavirus cases, raising to 3,740 the country's infection tally, the ministry's spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said.

The newly diagnosed cases include 294 in touch with previously infected people and two others linked to travel to the US and France, the official said.

The four other cases are being investigated for sources of infection, Dr Al Sanad added.

Kuwaiti Health Minister Sheikh Basil Al Sabah earlier said that 213 more patients have recovered from COVID-19, raising the total recoveries in the country to 1,389.

The recovered patients will be transferred to the rehabilitation ward of a hospital designating for receiving those infected with the virus, he told KUNA. They will be discharged from the facility in the next two days, according to the minister.
