Kuwait announces 10 new coronavirus cases
Dubai: Kuwait’s Health Ministry announced 10 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 56, according to Sky News Arabia.
The Ministry affirmed that all Covid-19 patients are in stable condition and being treated.
Dr. Buthaina Al Mudhaf, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs at Ministry of Health, called on the public to abide by and follow the Ministry’s instructions, especially with regard to avoiding gatherings, adding that anyone who violates domestic quarantine exposes himself to legal accountability.
Dr Al Mudhaf affirmed that Kuwait has no shortages in medical cadres and that the ministry is coordinating with concerned authorities to provide further quarantines.
Strong measures
On Thursday, Kuwaiti authorities announced that the fingerprint system would be suspended temporarily in all government entities, as of yesterday (Sunday), as part of preventive measures being taken to counter coronavirus.
Kuwaiti authorities have also banned visits to prisons for two weeks as part of the Gulf country’s efforts to bring the new coronavirus under control, Kuwaiti newspaper Al Rai reported Sunday. All employees in prisons have also been ordered to wear protective face masks.
Kuwaiti citizens were also told to avoid travelling over concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.
Covid-19 is the second coronavirus outbreak that affects the Middle East, following the MERS-CoV reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012.
