Kuwait: All mosque workers get COVID-19 jabs
Campaign under way to inoculate employees in commercial facilities
Cairo: Kuwait has said it has completed vaccinating workers of all mosques in the country against COVID-19 as part of stepped-up efforts to expand vaccinations and limit the spread of the highly contagious ailment.
Health Ministry spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said that also all employees of 12 cooperative societies in the governorate of Hawalli had been inoculated.
“The ministry’s campaign continues to vaccinate employees at other cooperatives, commercial activities and service provider outlets in residential areas as part of the ministry’s keenness to enlarge the scale of vaccine beneficiaries and expedite the inoculation pace,” he added.
Health authorities have recently launched mobile vaccination units targeting workers in mosques and in different commercial activities having direct contacts with the general public.
Kuwait, a country of 4.7 million population, kicked off vaccinations against COVID-19 in December. Despite the inoculation campaign and the stringent virus-related restrictions, an uptick in infections has been seen in the country.
Authorities there so far have recorded a tally of 250,273 coronavirus cases and 1,419 deaths.
