Cairo: Several cases of the coronavirus have been detected among employees in the Kuwaiti Education Ministry premises, prompting the temporary shutdown of the building, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida.

Infections were recorded in several assistant undersecretaries and staffers affiliated to the minister’s offices, the report said, citing well-informed sources without giving a specific figure.

The Education Ministry had requested the full shutdown of the building from Thursday to allow its complete sterilisation to stem the virus, they added. The building remains shut until Sunday.

The sources said that the ministry plans to tighten the entry system to the building to ensure that only people with advance appointments will be allowed in.
