COVID-19: Kuwait exempts PCR certificate for less than 4-day travel
Afghanistan added to banned country list
Kuwait City: The General Administration for Civil Aviation announced travellers are exempt from providing a PCR certificate if they are travelling for four days or less, local media reported. This is the first decision to ease travel restrictions.
In addition, health authorities have revised the validity period of the PCR certificate. Now, travellers arriving in Kuwait need to provide a PCR certificate that is conducted up to 96 hours, instead of 72 hours.
All passengers arriving in Kuwait are required to provide a health certificate, from one of the approved medical centres, proving they tested negative for COVID-19.
A mandatory 14-day quarantine is still required upon arrival by all passengers, both residents and citizens.
Travel restrictions
On August 1, Kuwait announced a travel ban on passengers arriving from 31 ‘high risk’ countries, including India, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Kuwait just added Afghanistan to the list of countries from which travellers are barred from entering Kuwait.
State media has mentioned that the banning of flights does not affect nationality, rather it is based on if a person visited a ‘high risk’ country.
