Cairo: Fifty-one employees have contracted COVID-19 at a company in Bahrain for failing to apply measures against the highly infectious disease, the kingdom’s health authorities have said.

An inspection visit to the unnamed company showed non-compliance with precautions including social distancing to limit the spread of the virus, it added.

The ministry sent public health specialists to the workplace for conducting tests and inspection as well to urge officials there to observe anti-virus measures.

A number of violations were detected at the company, prompting legal action, the ministry added without giving details.

The total workforce in the company was not disclosed.
