Cairo: Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman Bin Hamad and Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu had discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, the latest sign of growing ties between them after a recent historic peace treaty.

The discussion came in a telephone call held between both officials on Monday, the Bahraini news agency BNA reported.

They reviewed fields of bilateral cooperation and pushing it in different domains to enhance peace and stability in the region, the agency said.

During the call, Netanyahu offered his condolences over the death of Prince Khalifa Bin Salman, Bahrain’s late prime minister.

In mid-September, Bahrain and Israel signed a US-mediated peace pact in Washington.

Last week, Bahrain and Israel said they would open embassies in each other and launch weekly flights between them during a visit by Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani to Israel, the first such trip by a Bahraini official.
