Nestled in the picturesque highlands of Negros Occidental, this giant clucker isn’t just a quirky roadside attraction; it’s officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest chicken-shaped structure on Earth.

It’s not a coop, it’s luxury

Despite the theme, guests won’t be roughing it.

The 15 air-conditioned rooms offer comfort and charm, though you won’t find windows — because who wants to mess with the chicken-feather aesthetic?

Rates start at just under $80 for a family of four, making this bucket-list stay surprisingly affordable.

A legacy hatched from a big idea

The mastermind behind this architectural marvel is 70-something Ricardo Cano "Gwapo" Tan, a former politician with a flair for the dramatic.

“I wanted to leave a big legacy in this mortal world,” Tan said, and boy, did he deliver.

Tan dedicated his chicken-shaped masterpiece, aptly named Manok ni Cano (“Cano’s Chicken”), to honour the game fowl industry — a billion-peso enterprise in Negros Occidental.

The province is home to over 2,000 game fowl breeding farms and is a hotspot for "sabong" (cockfighting), a centuries-old Filipino pastime.

“Chickens are calm yet commanding creatures,” Tan mused. And judging by the crowds flocking to his resort, this rooster reigns supreme.

More than just a chicken

The Campuestohan Highland Resort, where the giant rooster resides, has grown from a humble mountaintop plot into a sprawling playground.

Think wave pools, cafes, restaurants, and hundreds of dinosaur and cartoon statues for the kids.

It’s the ultimate family escape — and yes, the chicken hotel is fully booked through January 2025!
