Twitter user @bilalfqisaid: “Former MQM [Muttahida Qaumi Movement] MNA Ali Raza Abidi is no more. He constantly raised his voice against injustice and it is very likely that he has paid the price for that. He was one of the few people who genuinely cared. We have lost a sane voice, a brave person and a good human being ...”

@DrOsamaSiddique also agreed, tweeting: “A critic of incumbent government and the establishment [has been] gunned down. Serious questions to be answered. Will this too be shoved under the carpet? Whatever the motivation and whoever culprit, how terrible for rule of law. #AliRazaAbidi #Dissent #PoliticalDissent”

Several members of the political arena also expressed their views on the assasination:

@AyazSadiq122 tweeted: “Deeply shocked and saddened at the news of ex-MNA Syed Ali Raza Abidi’s killing. He was deeply respected for his political work. Culprits must be dealt with iron hand. May Allah bless him with Jannah and give sabr/patience to family to bear his untimely loss.”
