Pakistan: Sindh Governor House celebrates 551st birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak

Karachi: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has the utmost resolve to ensure the due rights to people of religious minorities in the country, says Sindh Governor Imran Ismail.

He stated this while speaking at a ceremony held here at Governor House to commemorate 551st birth anniversary of the founder of Sikh religion, Baba Guru Nanak.

The governor said on the occasion that no person in Pakistan was regarded as a second class citizen as that was why people of the Sikh community was very close to their heart.

He said that rights of religious minorities in Pakistan were no less than the rights of the Muslim majority in the country.

He said that the way religious minorities were treated in Pakistan made the country stand out among other countries in the region.

He said the members of the religious minorities in Pakistan were free to practice their religion and led their lives in accordance with their peculiar custom and norms.

Serving humanity

He said that teachings of Baba Guru Nanak stood for serving the entire humanity. The governor said that all religions in the world stood for uplift of the humanity.

He said that teachings of Last Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (peace be upon him) called for fulfilling the fundamental rights of the mankind. He said the government was under obligations to secure lives and property of every citizen in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

Chief of Pakistan Sikh Council, Sardar Ramesh Singh, expressed gratitude to Sindh governor for holding the ceremony at Governor House to commemorate the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.

He said that people of the Sikh community was willing to render any sacrifice for progress and development of the country.
