Legendary Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad threatens India on Kashmir issue
A video of the former batting great weilding sword at a Kashmir rally goes viral
Dubai: Legendary Pakistani batsman Javed Miandad who had hit a last ball six to beat India in a classic one day cricket match in Sharjah in 1986, has now threatened to use sword against India to slain people.
In a video footage, which has gone viral on social media, 62-year-old Miandad wielding a sword in a protest rally to show solidarity with Kashmiris, challenged India.
As tension is on the rise between neighbouring nuclear powers since India abrogated Article 370 stripping Jammu and Kashmir of special autonomous status, there have been exchange of warnings and threats from both sides – be it the politicians, film stars or players.
On Sunday, a video went viral on social media showing former Pakistan batting great Javed Miandad giving his two bits on the Kashmir situation.
“Kashmiri brothers don’t worry. We are with you. Earlier, I used a bat to hit a six, now I can use this sword...If I can hit a sixer with a bat, can’t I kill a man with a sword,” Miandad says in the video.
Earlier, Miandad had also said that he would visit the Line of Control (LoC) with other sportspersons from Pakistan who were willing to join him. The former Pakistan captain said that they would hoist a flag for peace at the LoC.
Last month, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi too had taken to Twitter to express his views on the Kashmir situation.
“Let’s respond to PM call for Kashmir Hour as a nation. I will be at Mazar e Quaid at 12 pm on Friday. Join me to express solidarity with our Kashmiri brethren. On 6 Sep I will visit home of a Shaheed. I will soon be visiting LoC (sic),” Afridi had tweeted.
