Woman in India raped by policeman and his friend

The culprits raped the victim, tied her and threw her into a canal

Dubai: India continues to be unsafe for women. In another incident, which left twitter users shocked, a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziapur district was allegedly abducted and raped by a policeman and his friend.

What happened?

The two men raped the woman, tied her hands and legs and threw her into a canal. The incident took place in a village in the Mardah area of Ghaziapur, on Wednesday, September 4.

According to a report by Indian magazine India Today, the woman, who has not been identified, managed to return to her house and told her mother of the incident.

An investigation is underway…

A First Investigation Report (FIR) was registered with the police soon after that.

According to the police, the officer in question, Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary Abhay Yadav has been arrested, but his friend is still absconding.

Survey: India unsafe for women

According to a survey published by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in 2018, India is said to be the most dangerous country in the world to be a woman, with an increase in crimes against women being reported. The survey with 550 experts on women’s issues in India said that the country was the most dangerous in cases of sexual violence, human trafficking, slavery and more.
