A woman in the Indian state of Rajasthan allegedly strangled her husband to death and hid his body at home for over a day before the police got wind of it. The incident took place in the state’s Churu district on Sunday night, following a domestic dispute.

According to Indian news media reports, the 28-year-old woman named Neeraj strangled her 34-year-old husband Nirmal Singh with a rope, after the two fought.

After Nirmal died, Neeraj was not sure of what to do with his body, so she concealed it under the bed.

On Monday evening, Nirmal Singh’s elder brother Ashok Singh reached the couple’s house looking for his brother.

By now, since 28 hours had passed, a foul smell started emanating from the body of the deceased man. This led to Ashok Singh discovering his brother’s dead body.

Nirmal had no other way out except to call the police and inform them about the murder.

Subhas Chandra, Station House Officer (SHO) of Hamirwas, where the incident happened, told local reporters: "The body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem and handed over to family members today. The brother of the man has registered a case against the woman."

Apparently, the primary investigation revealed that the couple used to have heated arguments often. Neeraj told the cops that her husband used to beat and abuse her, almost every night.

Though police have detained Neeraj, the cop said: “She has not been arrested so far, and the matter is under investigation.”
