The girl belonged to Amarataluru village, while Sasi Krishna was from Mutuluru village in the district.

According to the police, Sasi had discontinued his studies after 8th standard and worked in an automobile shop for some time.

Sasi Krishna developed friendship with the engineering student after they met on Instagram and were regularly in touch.

However, Sasi became suspicious that the girl was seeing someone else.

On the fateful day, the two had an argument at a public place as the boy was forcing her to go with him. Twenty minutes later, he returned on a motorbike and attacked her with a knife stabbing her on the neck and in the stomach. He fled the scene, leaving the girl in a pool of blood. By the time onlookers took her to Guntur government hospital, she died.
