Patna: Hungry thieves cooked omelettes, drank ORS (Oral Rehydration Solutions) and snacked on food in the kitchen before making away with goods from the house of a journalist in Bihar on Sunday.

Reports said the thieves entered the flat of a journalist located on the first floor of a Rajiv Nagar locality in Patna late Sunday night. While the victim and his family slept, the thieves filled themselves with food of their choice.

They made omelettes in the kitchen during their two-hour stay in the house, and carried off rice, flour, other grocery items and utensils with them.

“When we woke up in the morning, we found the remains of omelettes on the frying pan, opened packets of ORS and empty wrappers of snacks in the kitchen. It appears they were calm and relished the food before fleeing the scene,” the victim Ajay Kumar told the media on Monday. Kumar said the thieves had locked their bedroom from outside before getting on the job.

Kumar said he had returned from office at around 11pm and stayed awake till 2am. “It appears the thieves opened the locks of the house using a master key and hence we were unable to notice the theft. Sometime after I went to bed I heard my pet dog barking, but failed to understand that it was alerting us,” the victim said.
