6-year-old brutally raped in India, 22-year-old accused arrested

Under influence of drug, the accused abducted child who was sleeping by her father

Dubai: Another minor girl has been raped in India. This time a six-year-old in Ludhiana in the Indian state of Punjab. Shocked Twitter users shared news reports and the horrific details of the case on September 15. Media reports confirmed that the accused has been arrested.

Yesterday, tribuneindia.com reported that the victim was a daughter of a migrant labourer. Around 2.30am on Saturday when the victim’s father woke up, he was shocked to find his daughter, who was sleeping by him, missing. He, along with the local residents, started searching for the girl. They found her lying on the road 400 metre from the house. She was profusely bleeding from her private part.

The police confirmed that the accused identified as Bablu Kumar (22), a resident of Ashok Vihar, Tajpur Road was arrested within a few hours of the crime. Addressing a press conference, Additional DCP Ajinder Singh, ACP Vaibhav Sehgal and Jamalpur SHO Harjinder Singh said: "We had a clue that Bablu had raped the girl. We conducted raids in the area and he was nabbed near Samrala Chowk. Bablu was trying to flee to his native village in Uttar Pradesh. He has confessed to the crime."

The SHO added: “Bablu was reportedly under the influence of some drug when he abducted the girl, took her to an isolated place and raped her. When the girl fell unconscious, he fled the scene leaving the girl on the road.”

Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal has said the police would write to the Sessions Judge to put this case in the fast-track court. The accused brutally raped the girl. The doctors had to put 24 stitches in the victim’s private part.
