Two million passengers use Dubai’s public transport on New Year eve

The ridership on New Year’s eve shows with 10% increase over last year

Dubai: More than two million passengers used Dubai’s public transport system on the eve of New Year, according to statistics released by the Roads and Transport Authority on Tuesday.

The numbe of riders have incresed by 10 per cent campared to last year’s New Year eve. The RTAs’ release says that number of public transport riders reached 2,100,000 riders, registering a (10%) increase over total ridership on the same day in 2017.

Dubai’s metro through its Red and Green lines carried 867,000 passengers whereas 33,253) riders used Dubai Tram. Public buses carried 428,549 passengers whereas 659,134 used taxi.

Different marine transport modes including abras, water buses and ferries carried 61,449 passengers on the New Year’s Eve.
