Sharjah Ruler says only 25 students per class

Sharjah: Sharjah’s private schools will no longer have more than 25 pupils in each classroom, in a move that aims to regulate private education in the emirate.

His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed the Sharjah Private Education Authority to immediately put the new rule into effect.

As per Dr. Shaikh Sultan’s directions, a private school teacher will give no more than 24 classes a week, an average of five classes a day.

Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Private Education Authority, said Dr. Shaikh Sultan’s instructions aim to continue to improve the quality of education and tprovide the best attractive and stimulating school environment.

“His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah is the patron of education, knowledge and culture as he tirelessly supports all initiatives and steps that would help keep doors widely open for younger generations to shape a successful future,” Dr. Al Hashimi said.

She said that the new move aims to enable teaching and educational bodies to apply the best learning practices and encourage the provision of outstanding services and attracting investments in the private education.

She stressed that these guidelines represent a state of encouragement, support, success and excellence, thereby reflecting positively on the entire educational scene in the private sector.

Ali Ahmad Al Hosani, Director of the authority, said the authority aims to regulate private education in the emirate, supported by Dr. Shaikh Sultan, who is extremely keen to improve the learning process and the academic performance of pupils, as well as to ensure the best standards in education are provided to school -goers.

He said the authority has begun to study the mechanisms of implementing Dr. Shaikh Sultan’s directives and embarked on the setting up of teams tasked with putting the necessary plans for the implementation of the new guidelines.
