UAE announces cannon firing locations during Ramadan

The blanks are fired at sunset to mark the end of the day’s fast

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Defence has announced the cannon firing locations across the UAE during Ramadan, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The ministry said that the iftar (ending of the fast) cannons will be present on several sites, including in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, as well as Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.

In Abu Dhabi, the cannons will be placed at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Hosn, and Um Al Emarat Park in Al Mushrif, and in Al Shahama City in Formula Parking.

In Al Ain, the cannons will be in Zakher area near the wedding hall and Al Jahili Fort, while in Al Dhafra City, they will be in ADNOC Parks.

In Ras Al Khaimah, the cannons will be located in Al Qawasim Corniche near the flagpole, and in Umm Al Quwain, cannons will be fired from Sheikh Zayed Mosque.

The cannons of Ramadan have become a traditional event that people in the UAE look forward to witnessing during the holy month. It marks the end of the end of the day’s fast (iftar) at sunset.

The Ministry of Defence stated that this event is an important part of the authentic social heritage that has been entrenched in the memory and conscience of the UAE society.
