Dubai: Sri Lankan Buddhist community distributes 1,500 iftar meals

Dubai: The Sri Lankan Buddhist community in Dubai recently distributed 1,500 iftar meals to blue-collar workers residing in Al Muhaisnah, Dubai.

The Ramadan event was organised by Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple and Meditation Centre, which is based in Garhoud.

As a religious and community-led association, the distribution was a gesture of gratitude and is also aimed at enhancing the religious and social harmony among the communities during Ramadan, the organisers said.

Attending the event, Ven. Muwagammana Santha dhamma Thero of Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple and Meditation Centre, said: “These types of activities not only help generate solidarity and social harmony among communities but also promote kindness, the spirit of giving and blessings during the holy month of Ramadan.”

Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple and Meditation Centre is a community organisation established in 2018 in under the guidelines of the Community Development Authority (CDA) to serve the religious and cultural needs of Sri Lankan Buddhists residing in the emirate.

The iftar distribution was organised in coordination and approval of the CDA, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Watani Al Emarat Foundation and Sahana Welfare Association.
