9,000 apply in one week to be next Arab Hope Maker, with Dh1 million award from Dubai
Fifth edition, launched last week, sees overwhelming response
Dubai: The fifth edition of the region’s largest humanitarian initiative, the Arab Hope Makers award, has received an overwhelming response, with over 9,000 applications submitted within a week of the latest edition’s launch.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the initiative offers a Dh1 million prize to celebrate and support individuals and organisations driving impactful humanitarian and community-focused initiatives across the Arab world.
Launched in 2017, the Hope Makers programme—part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives—aims to highlight inspiring stories of selflessness and innovation.
This year’s edition invites submissions from individuals, institutions, and volunteer groups with projects aimed at alleviating suffering, improving lives, or enhancing communities socially, economically, culturally, or environmentally.
Applicants and nominees hail from a variety of sectors, including education, health, and community development. Projects must demonstrate tangible impact and operate without profit motives.
Nominees can either self-apply or be recommended by others. Entries are being accepted on the initiative’s website, arabhopemakers.com, until the nomination window closes.
Last week, Sheikh Mohammed announced the search for Arab Hope Makers for the initiative’s fifth edition.
In its fourth season, Sheikh Mohammed honoured the four finalists of the Arab Hope Makers initiative: Tala Al Khalil (Iraq), who received the highest number of votes, along with Mohamed Al Najjar (Iraq), Amine Imnir (Morocco), and Fathiya Al Mahmoud (Egypt), chosen from over 58,000 nominees. In that edition, each finalist was awarded Dh1 million.
