Now open: Mobile drive-thru COVID-19 test centre in the UAE

Checks done in 5 minutes at new coronavirus test facility

Abu Dhabi: The UAE on Saturday opened a mobile COVID-19 Test Center to support the country’s relentless efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The new centre, developed by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company-SEHA, was inaugurated on Saturday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

A photo shows Shaikh Mohamed bending his head back and giving nasal swab sample at first stage of screening and was then instructed to exit to complete the procedures.

DONE IN 5 MINUTES
Checks are done in 5 minutes, while the center provides services to about 600 people daily starting from 8am to 8pm daily.

The mobile test facility will be dedicated for testing individuals for coronavirus, as part of the country’s precautionary measures to address the spread of COVID-19.

On his twitter page, Sheikh Mohammed said: “Today, I visited the mobile COVID-19 Test Center set up by SEHA as part of measures to contain the virus. Medical teams out in the field are the first line of protection of the UAE, their sacrifices safeguard our health.”

The opening of the center was attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and head of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office.

Sheikh Mohamed then toured the centre, where he was briefed on the facilities and equipment, with the latest technologies and medical and technical cadres that provide the necessary care for citizens and residents according to the highest international standards.

HOW TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
As part of the process, patients will need to book an appointment through Estijaba 8001717.

They will then be asked to participate in a pre-assessment screening, where they would need to answer questions related to their condition.

Following the pre-screening, people who are suspected of having contracted the virus and those who are most vulnerable, such as the elderly, pregnant women or people with chronic diseases will be prioritised.

The test will be free for these individuals.

For the wider community who prefer to do the examination for reassurance only, the testing procedure will cost Dh370.
