Confirmed: Eid holiday dates for UAE schools

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority announced the Eid holidays for schools

Dubai: On Monday, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) confirmed that all schools in Dubai will enjoy five days off from school to mark Eid Al Fitr.

On its official Twitter account, the KHDA said that schools will be closed from Sunday June 2 until Thursday June 6. Classes will resume on Sunday June 9, 2019.

Earlier, the UAE Cabinet declared that the public sector will enjoy a long Eid break from June 2 to June 8, and will resume on Sunday June 9.

The private sector will also gain a long weekend break as the Eid holiday will start on Monday June 3.

On social media, the KHDA wished parents and pupils blessed days, filled with love and happiness and goodwill.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi also announced that Eid Al Fitr holidays in private schools will commence on June 2 and classes will resume on June 9.

School calendar 2019-2020

According to the academic calendar, the summer break for schools is around the corner with public and private schools due to start their summer holidays on July 4, 2019. The new academic year will commence on September 1, 2019.

For private schools with foreign curricula.

The academic calendar is applicable to public schools that follow the ministry’s curriculum and also private schools that follow a foreign curriculum.

Schools following the ministry’s curriculum will have their winter break for pupils from December 15, 2019 to January 9, 2020, while academic staff will have their holiday from December 22, 2019 until January 2, 2020.

For schools following foreign curricula, the winter break for pupils will be from December 15, 2019 and schools will reopen on January 5, 2020.
