Dubai Police hunt for men giving cash for free

A video that went viral on social media showed two men in traditional garb distributing bank notes in Jumeirah

Dubai: Police are on the search for two men who recently gave away free cash to pedestrians after footage of the incident went viral on social media.

“Police have been studying the video and are carrying out an investigation to identify the men,” a police source told the Arabic daily Al Bayan.

Police believe the men in the video were of Asian origin.

The video was taken in the upscale area of Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) in Dubai, which is one of the emirate’s most touristic hotspots.

In the online video, viewers can see how two men wearing kandoras (traditional Emirati wear) handed out bank notes to pedestrians who just happened to be in the neighbourhood.

During the conversation with residents, the men can be heard saying that the cash was a gift from a prominent Emirati businessman.
