Baalbek, Lebanon: What began as a joyful wedding celebration ended in tragedy on Sunday evening in the eastern Lebanese town of Bouday, when the groom opened fire after a guest reportedly danced with the bride.
The incident left two people dead and several others injured, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
A verbal altercation between the groom and the guest quickly escalated into a violent shootout.
Two individuals were killed in the exchange, and multiple wounded were transported to nearby hospitals. The severity of the injuries remains unknown.
The Lebanese Army responded swiftly, establishing a security perimeter around both the wedding venue and the medical facilities treating the victims.
A manhunt is underway for those involved in the gunfire, though it remains unclear how many shooters were present or if any arrests have been made.
As of press time, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
