Occupied Jerusalem: Hundred new Jewish colonist homes are to be constructed on Arab land in Occupied East Jerusalem.
Elisha Peleg, a city councilor made the announcement on Wednesday, just as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in the US meeting with President Barack Obama during a time of heightened tensions between the two allies.
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said President Mahmoud Abbas would insist that Israel revoke the plans to build in the Arab neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, as well as another published two weeks ago to build 1,600 houses at another site near the city.
"When we say peace or settlements, it seems he goes for the settlements," Erekat said of Netanyahu.
