Ramallah: Hamas must apologise to Fatah for banning and humiliating a presidential delegation trying to visit Gaza from Ramallah, according to the Fatah Central Committee.
“No one owns Gaza, it should be open to all Palestinians,” the statement read. “The treatment by Hamas was a serious slap in the face to all efforts to achieve Palestinian reconciliation,” it added.
The delegation which comprised of General Esmael Jaber, Advisor for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for security affaris, Rawhi Fatouh, a top aid to president Abbas, and two members of the Fatah Central Committee Mohammad Al Madani and Sakher Beseiso reached the Beit Hanoun Crossing where Hamas security took their identity cards and forced them wait at the crossing for nearly an hour.
“Hamas should provide an official apology to Fatah and the Palestinian public for the humiliating way the presidential delegation was treated,” said the statement. “Fatah therefore will reconsider its position in the reconciliation deal depending on Hamas’reaction,” the statement added.
