Brother of former Israeli PM Olmert punches sports reporter

Occupied Jerusalem: The brother of former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has knocked an Israeli sports reporter unconscious.

Basketball executive Irmi Olmert was apparently upset over some on-air comments by a reporter for Israel's Channel 5 sports network.

Olmert confronted him after a second division game and ended up punching him in the face, briefly knocking him unconscious.

Sport 5 footage of the Tuesday night incident shows the two arguing, followed by a loud thump and then the reporter lying motionless on the basketball court.

The actual assault is not captured but Olmert is heard saying: "I'll show you for speaking to me that way. I punched him. Did you hear what he said about me?"

Israeli police questioned Olmert. The reporter was hospitalised and later released.
