Army soldier killed in eastern Lebanon attack

Beirut: A security official says gunmen have attacked a military post in the eastern Lebanese province of Hermel, killing a soldier and wounding another.

The official says the machine-gun attack took place at dawn on Wednesday. Soldiers fired back at the attackers who fled.

The motives and the identity of the assailants are not immediately known. Troops are searching for them, according to the official.
