Iran will extend the closure of its airspace and the suspension of all domestic and international flights until Thursday 2pm.
According to the spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development Majid Akhavan, this extension was made to ensure the safety of passengers and aviation security.
He added that the decision is based on Notice to Airmen No. 19 (NOTAM) in light of recent developments, adding that Iranian airspace will remain closed until the specified time.
Akhavan urged citizens not to go to airports and to follow flight updates exclusively through official sources.
He emphasized that the imposed restrictions will remain in effect until the situation returns to normal and that the reopening of the airspace will be officially announced once the state of emergency ends.
Several GCC countries had closed their airspaces following Iran’s strikes on a US base in Qatar on Monday evening.
